Richard A. Magnuson
PERSONAL
Rich has worked for many years in services for
people with disabilities. He has become a strong advocate for the arts in
health care and education. He initiated dance/movement therapy and dance
education programs for the students at HMS School for Children with
Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia. These programs include collaborative
projects with the Fusion2 dance company of the Gwendolyn Bye Dance studio,
which were performed at the Painted Bride Performing Arts Center and the
Basilica Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia. The dance
programs at HMS School were also featured in the WHYY documentary "Circles
of Care". More recently, Rich has established an artist in residence
program at HMS School in cooperation with the Walnut Street Theatre
Education Outreach Department. A teaching artist from the theater
provides theater games and activities in playwriting, acting, and theater
arts instruction. The goals of these programs are to promote
self-awareness, self-expression, and self-esteem and increase individual
awareness of the arts for life-long leisure pursuits. Rich's objective
for participating on the KBCPF Board of Directors is to ensure that
residents of the new homes are active participants in social and cultural
community events.

John
Bingham is a Project Manager for Mechanical Design Solutions, Inc. and
takes an active role in the day-to-day business of managing a design team
specializing in piping systems. He is the devoted father of his two
children, and has been married to Dianne Bingham, founder of The Krysti
Bingham Cerebral Palsy Foundation, for 19 years.
While planning for their will, John and his wife Dianne
realized that there would be no one to care for their daughter in the
probable case she survives them. This, along with personal knowledge of
many other young individuals with CP, prompted them to make a commitment
to improve the options these special people have for living. It is his
hope that Krysti and others will be able to flourish and thrive in a
non-institutional, home-like environment.
In his spare time, John enjoys hunting, fishing,
crabbing, and reading. He recently earned his open water diving
certification, and along with his son John, has traveled and dove at over
15 locations in 4 different countries. He hopes to add many more in the
next coming years.
